The Optica chilled mirror hygrometer delivers primary-standard humidity measurement for applications where accuracy, traceability, and advanced functionality are critical. Using the proven optical condensation method, it precisely controls a thermoelectrically cooled mirror to its dew or frost point and measures temperature with a four-wire platinum resistance thermometer.
System accuracy is central to the Optica’s design, achieving ±0.2°C for dew/frost point, ±0.15°C for temperature, and ±0.5% full scale for pressure, all traceable to NIST, with an optional enhanced dew/frost point accuracy of ±0.15°C. Its proprietary Digiloop™ digital control system replaces analogue PID control, delivering superior stability and precision, particularly at high and trace humidity levels.
The Optica supports four interchangeable sensors covering –75°C to +75°C dew point, making it well suited for calibration laboratories and metrology applications, including trace-level moisture measurement. It measures dew point, temperature, and pressure simultaneously, enabling pressure-compensated humidity calculations.
A clear, high-resolution display provides intuitive access to live measurements, trends, and system status, with a full-colour VGA display with real-time graphing, interface offering Ethernet connectivity and web-based monitoring. Flexible analog outputs, alarm relays, and programmable calculations enable seamless integration into laboratory and calibration systems. The Optica also incorporates the patented PACER cycle for automated mirror cleaning and is available in benchtop or 19″ rack-mount configurations.
System accuracy is ±0.2°C for dew/frost point, ±0.15°C for temperature, and ±0.5% full scale for pressure, all at 25°C and traceable to NIST. For the most demanding metrology applications, an enhanced-accuracy option tightens dew/frost point performance to ±0.15°C.
Five sensors are available. The single-stage 1111H covers –15°C to +25°C. The two-stage D-2 and 1211H extend to –35°C with higher pressure ratings. The heated SIM-12H handles above-ambient dew points up to +75°C. The four-stage 1311DR reaches –65°C (air-cooled) or –75°C (liquid-cooled) for trace moisture measurement. All carry the same standard ±0.2°C accuracy specification (±0.15°C as an option).
The Optica is primarily used in calibration laboratories and metrology institutes, as well as in research, environmental chamber validation, trace moisture measurement, and engine or aerospace testing where high-accuracy humidity measurements are critical.
Yes. The Optica accepts a live 4–20 mA or 0–5 VDC signal from a Panametrics pressure transducer, enabling automatic calculation and display of moisture at actual line conditions. A fixed pressure value can also be programmed manually where process pressure is known and stable.
